Director, Facilities, Fleet, and Logistics

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing and providing strategic direction and leadership to the Cooperative’s Facilities, Fleet and Logistics Departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the implementation of Facilities, Fleet and Logistics programs are aligned with the strategic goals of the Cooperative
  • Develop and deploy comprehensive facility, fleet and logistics plans          
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Facilities, Fleet and Logistics Departments to ensure that they cohesively work together to maximize productivity and employee engagement
  • Ensure effective management of the Facilities Department and that all custodial, activities, i.e., routine maintenance, construction and grounds keeping tasks are performed in an efficient, cost-effective manner
  • Ensure effective management of the Fleet department and that schedules and procedures for and ensures adherence to routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the companies fleet
  • Ensure effective management of schedule for replacement of fleet vehicles
  • Direct and oversee logistical operations for the cooperative
  • Ensure timely delivery of products and materials
  • Develop and implement strategic supply chain plans and processes
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve the performance of all logistics processes
  • Collaborate with procurement on contract negotiations, pricing and delivery with suppliers and vendors

  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and cost-savings
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors on how to reduce expenses associated with facilities, fleet and logistics
  • Coordinate departmental activities in conjunction with other departments and ensure that they are planned and prioritized
  • Provide high-level advice to executive management regarding Facilities, Fleet and Logistics matters, manage and implement decisions
  • Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with other departments within the Cooperative
  • Assist the management team in establishing priorities, identifying risks, and contingency planning
  • Project the future needs and implement technical solutions that align with the Cooperative’s policies
  • Prepare and present the status of department programs to the management team
  • Lead and assist with special projects
  • Investigate new technological opportunities that deliver innovative solutions or significant enhancements

  • Serve as subject matter expert in handling and resolving escalated issues as they relate to the Cooperative’s fleet, facilities and logistics matters
  • Supervise the work of office, administrative or customer service employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems
  • Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
  • Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with management
  • Discuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and work to resolve problems
  • Teach and instruct employees in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be provided
  • Evaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action
  • Recruit, instruct and supervise subordinates
  • Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff
  • Develop and review operating procedures
  • Develop and manage department budget
  • Establish work priorities and activities
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, hires and other disciplinary action
  • Establish metrics and prepare monthly reports

Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities

A full range of supervisory activities, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for termination. This includes, but is not limited to, effectively communicating organizational policies and other information to subordinates, ensuring that employees have a clear understanding of their responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and budgeting
  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field
  • Directly related experience may substitute for education
  • Ten years of directly related job experience
  • Five years of directly related experience in logistics, supply chain management, facilities, and/or fleet management
  • Five years leadership experience
  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period
