$29.73 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits

*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range.  Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for preparing and processing payroll.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Enter, maintain, and/or process employee information into the payroll system; information may include but not limited to employees’ hourly rates, salaries, overtime, bonuses, or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions
  • Issue or reissue direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge
  • Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits
  • Calculate and prepare general ledger entries
  • Reconcile billing report with payroll deductions and process payment for the amount(s) withheld
  • Adhere to all mandatory payroll deadlines
  • Advise payroll staff on payroll processes and in resolving payroll issues
  • Coordinate and oversee electronic transfer of funds
  • Receive all garnishments for child support, IRS, and other court levies and disseminate appropriate information to employees, agencies, and Cooperative
  • Respond to requests for employment verification
  • Research and analyze payroll information
  • File tax reports and payments
  • Prepare accounting documents

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of directly related experience in accounting or bookkeeping and Microsoft Excel with at least two years of payroll-specific experience
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
