$71,200.00 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits
*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing routine technical work, applying established techniques and procedures to perform engineering tasks related to the analysis, design and construction of complex electrical power systems under the direction of a professional engineer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain model data for use in power-flow models used to analyze transmission system performance.
- Analyze transmission system performance using steady state and dynamic power-flow models.
- Perform power-flow studies needed to ensure compliance with NERC and ERCOT Reliability Standards.
- Prepare project justification documents for capital improvements needed to meet NERC and ERCOT Reliability Standards and the standards for construction in the National Electrical Safety Code and, as needed, presents them to PEC management and the ERCOT Regional Planning Group.
- Participate in development and maintenance of Transmission Line Design Standards for PEC
- Coordinate with internal PEC staff to evaluate and analyze the impact of load and/or generation interconnections to PEC’s transmission system
- Review and evaluate transmission line design under the direction of a professional engineer
- Research technical specifications
- Operate computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment
- Study technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of transmission lines and topographical maps to become familiar with standards and customer requirements
- Confer with management, engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products

- Review construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment
- Perform detailed calculations to define and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications
- Review and report project progress to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget
- Perform a variety of standard engineering computations and analysis
- Prepare engineering drawings, maps and construction specifications
- Perform basic staking and survey work
- Research material specifications and resolve basic material issues
- Research technical specifications
- Maintain the security of confidential information
- Stay abreast of advances in technology
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

- Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs and entering data or processing information
- Knowledge of power system analysis
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
- Knowledge of Power System transmission materials, such as structures, foundations, insulators, anchor bolts, etc.
- Skilled in time management
- Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities
- Ability to read and understand transmission construction design drawings
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
- Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
